Welsh Colliery Horses with guest speaker Ceri Thompson.

These horses (usually referred to as pit ponies) were the most regulated in the British Isles, and subject to many rules and requirements. They stayed almost entirely underground, only during the colliery’s annual holiday, did they come to the surface and see daylight! Highly valued, they were generally far better looked after than the coal miners were.
